History

Founded in March 1976, our area association is dedicated to preserving and enhancing one of Memphis’s oldest and most diverse communities. Dating back to the 1830s, our neighborhood’s history includes Solomon Rozelle’s 803-acre land purchase, which shaped much of Midtown Memphis, and Eli Rayner’s 1853 Greek Revival manor, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Notable landmarks include Rozelle Elementary, a historic school established in 1918 and recognized as an arts honor school. Its students have performed at prestigious venues such as the United Nations and have played alongside the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.

Our association remains committed to honoring the community’s rich history while fostering connections and ensuring a vibrant future for generations to come.
