Ms. Linda’s Butter Cookies

Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and there’s no better way to share some love than with a batch of homemade cookies. Ms. Linda’s Butter Cookies have been a favorite in our community for years. They’re simple to make, delicious to eat, and perfect for sharing. Whether you’re baking alone or with friends, these cookies are a sweet way to create connections and memories.

Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks of softened butter

  • 1 cup of powdered sugar

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract

Instructions:

  1. Cream Together Butter and Powdered Sugar
Start by creaming together the powdered sugar and butter. For the best texture, beat them together on high speed for about a minute until light and fluffy. This is where the magic starts, and the buttery goodness begins to form.

  2. Add the Flour Gradually
Slowly add in the flour, about half a cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Don’t rush this part—let the flour incorporate fully to create a smooth dough.

  3. Flavor It Up
Add your vanilla extract and almond extract to the dough. These little touches of flavor really make the cookies shine, adding warmth and a hint of elegance.

  4. Pipe or Spoon
If you want those classic, beautiful star-shaped cookies, place your dough in a pastry bag with the largest star tip. Pipe them onto a parchment-lined baking pan in circles. If you don’t have a pastry bag, no problem! Simply spoon the dough onto the pan for a more rustic look—still just as delicious!

  5. Chill (Optional, But Worth It!)
If you want your cookies to hold their shape even better, refrigerate the dough for about 15 minutes before baking. This will help prevent them from spreading too much in the oven, keeping their lovely, crisp edges intact.

  6. Bake
Bake the cookies at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Watch them closely—every oven is different, and these cookies are best when they’re perfectly crisped at the edges but still tender in the middle.
